OverviewSenior Heat Pump Engineer role at Hometree. Location: North Shields. Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 pa depending on experience. Role type: Permanent. The group provides installation, servicing, financing, and maintenance to support greener homes.The RoleAs a Senior Heat Pump Engineer, you will lead the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of high-performance heat pump and emitter systems. You will ensure projects are delivered to high standards of quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction. You will mentor and support junior installation team members, promoting best practices and developing their skills. This role requires a proactive, hands-on professional with strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and excellence.ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Mentorship: Lead by example and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and on-the-job training to maintain high installation and service standards.Project Delivery: Manage and execute complex installation and commissioning projects for heat pump and emitter systems, ensuring work is on time, to specification, and to high quality.Technical Expertise: Perform and oversee system installations, including underfloor heating, radiator systems, pipework, and associated electrical and plumbing connections.Maintenance & Servicing: Conduct planned maintenance, diagnostics, and performance assessments on existing systems.Troubleshooting & Repairs: Lead fault-finding and repair work on electrical and plumbing issues with effective solutions.Quality & Compliance: Uphold company and regulatory standards; document work accurately, inspect thoroughly, and meet performance benchmarks.Health & Safety Leadership: Champion safe working practices, conduct risk assessments, and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.Client Relations: Manage client interactions professionally, provide clear technical explanations, and ensure smooth handovers to minimize callbacks.Project Coordination: Work with project coordinators to plan resources, schedules, and timely delivery of parts and milestones.Team Collaboration: Foster a positive, solution-focused environment with emphasis on continuous improvement and accountability.What We’re Looking ForExperience: 3–5 years of experience installing heat pump heating systems in domestic properties.Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Team Player: Ability to work in a collaborative environment.Safety Commitment: Commitment to safe working practices.Positive Attitude: Enthusiasm and a proactive mindset.Flexibility: Patience and a proactive approach.QualificationsMinimum of Level 2 Plumbing, Heating or Heat Pump qualification from a recognised awarding body (i.e. City & Guilds, SVQ, etc.).Completion of Heat Pump manufacturer installation courses.National Certification for Unvented Hot Water Systems: G3 (unvented cylinder) qualification OR proven experience.Water Regs WRAS Qualifications.CSCS or similar H&S qualification (CSCS card or equivalent) indicating knowledge of site safety protocols.Extra CreditBPEC (or equivalent) GSHP or ASHP qualification.Low Temperature Heating Systems qualification.F-Gas Certification Training: Training for working with refrigeration systems and refrigerants.Gas Safety Registration (if applicable, e.g., Gas Safe Register).Our Recruitment ProcessInitial Call: Introductory call with our Operations Director (30 mins).Skills-Based Interview: Discussion with Operations Director and Managing Director (1 hr, in person).Perks25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).Company pension.Van and uniform provided.Tools loan option.Company mobile phone.About HometreeJoin Hometree Group to help transform residential energy.
