Opportunity We are recruiting a Senior DevOps Engineer to join the DevOps Team within the Information and Technology Services (ITS) Division. The role focuses on supporting and delivering cloud‑based services in Azure, adhering to GDS principles and using Agile methodologies. Working Pattern This post is available on a full‑time basis only. You will work a 37‑hour week, based on a 5‑day working week of 7.4 hours, between 07:00 and 19:00 Monday–Friday. Saturday work and additional hours may be required as operational needs arise. An on‑call rota may also be part of the role. Travel Requirements You may be required to travel to other HSE offices and to HSE HQ in Redgrave Court, Bootle, for workshops and team meetings. These trips may occasionally require overnight stays. Responsibilities Support existing cloud‑based services and assist in the design and delivery of new services. Help develop the capability of HSE’s newly formed multi‑skilled DevOps Team to manage the technologies of a cloud‑based IT estate. Establish and operate DevOps processes, creating a culture of continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD). Work closely with development and test communities to automate processes and implement new tooling. Design, implement and manage solutions that are highly available, resilient, scalable and maintainable within our cloud environment. Deliver DevOps Engineering support to major digital and technology services change programmes transforming HSE. Qualifications & Experience Experience of implementing and administering cloud‑based solutions in Microsoft Azure (IaaS or PaaS). Experience of building and optimising CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps. Experience using scripting languages such as PowerShell. Experience creating and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IAC) in a source control management system (e.g. Bicep, ARM templates). Experience managing the technologies of a cloud‑based IT estate. Experience setting up monitoring and alerting of live cloud services. Experience line‑managing junior staff. Additional Desired Skills Experience changing and improving processes.
