AECOM Manchester, England, United Kingdom Assistant Cost Manager / Cost Manager (Water Sector) At AECOM, we are looking for cost/commercial management professionals to join our Infrastructure Cost Management team in the Water sector. If you have a history of delivering in the water industry and can support projects across the entire lifecycle – from inception to commissioning – we want to hear from you. Responsibilities Support cost/commercial management commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery. Participate in meetings, prepare cost reports, assist with procurement strategies and tender documentation, and handle general post‑contract commercial management. Engage proactively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure delivery within agreed parameters and help prevent disputes. Client‑side cost management, including stakeholder, risk, and contract management. Ensure projects and commissions are delivered to client satisfaction for quality, cost, and time. Build strong relationships with clients and cross‑functional teams. Support business development opportunities with existing and new clients. Provide support on contract management services on NEC4 contracts via a contract management system. Advise clients on procurement strategies and review tender documentation. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in consulting or contractor environment. Infrastructure cost/commercial management experience (Water industry experience desirable). Knowledge of NEC suite of contracts – PSC and ECC. Experience working in integrated, multi‑organisation, collaborative teams. Good communication, organisational, relationship‑building, and IT skills. Excellent numeracy, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with senior project managers and associates. Team‑player with a "can‑do" attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible. Supporter of social and CSR activities, promoting a positive workplace environment. Education & Professional Qualifications Relevant degree (e.g., quantity surveying) or equivalent industry experience. Working toward membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS) – desirable.
