Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Rotational Occupational Therapist The closing date is 25 November 2025 Hull University Teaching Hospitals are seeking to recruit a band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy Rotation across the Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital sites. The post holders will work alongside multi-disciplinary team colleagues to support the assessment and treatment of patients in a variety of clinical areas on our rotation. Clinical areas are currently as follows (in no particular order and subject to change): Medicine, Respiratory, Trauma Orthopaedics, Major Trauma, Stroke and Neurology, Oncology, No Criteria to Reside Unit. As an Occupational Therapist you will have direct input into the assessment, treatment and reablement of patients who present within acute care with varying degrees of complexity, delivering evidence based interventions to facilitate recovery, promote well-being and optimise independent functioning as far as reasonably possible in all areas of life. We are seeking people who can adapt to changing environment and work well in a team. You will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and build social networks working in partnership with other agencies to identify and address the immediate need. Current or pending professional registration (HCPC) is required for this post hence applicants will need to hold (or be awaiting) a Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy. This role is ideal for new Occupational Therapy graduates taking their first step into professional life. Main duties of the job The post holder will be self motivated and aspirational, be able to assess in an effective and timely manner in a rapid paced environment. Confidence in enabling patients in positive risk taking, personalised care, assessment of capacity, manual handling, functional assessments and knowledge of the SAFER principles will be enhanced and nurtured within this role. Rotations across clinical areas occur approximately every 6 months to enable post-holders to develop and consolidate clinical skills as appropriate to the area. You will have regular support and supervision to promote and nurture your development, and our organisation has a well‑established AHP preceptorship programme which is essential in giving newly qualified Occupational Therapists in their first role a secure professional grounding. Person Specification Qualifications Occupational Therapy Degree / Diploma in Occupational Therapy (or due to graduate soon) HCPC registration or registration applied for Accredited wheelchair prescriber Completion of recognised student educator course from UK learning institution Driver - or has demonstrable ability to transport self independently in the community Knowledge and Experience Experience (through undergraduate placements or post‑graduate employment) of applying occupational therapy knowledge and skills in clinical settings Knowledge of the key concepts of Occupational Therapy models of practice Ability to demonstrate/discuss Occupational Therapy process in UK‑based clinical settings Ability to analyse, select and apply appropriate assessment and treatments using a range of modalities, using examples of undergraduate placement or employment experience Evidence of continuing professional development UK‑based occupational therapy undergraduate placement or employment experience Ability to use reflective practice for personal development Contributed to the development of students and staff Communication and Interpersonal Skills Shows desire and capability to develop in line with competencies associated with the role Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team Demonstrates understanding of confidentiality Able to facilitate learning of others.
