Working Hours: 35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm but additional hours may be required. We are happy to consider agile and flexible working patterns. Our approach to hybrid working allows for up to 40% of time working from home and 60% working in the office.

Department Description:

Hogan Lovells New Business Conflicts Department is charged with investigating legal conflicts of interest and firm business issues. If conflicts of interest or business issues are identified, the department is charged with rectifying those issues prior to the matter being approved by a partner on the Ethics Committee and a firm matter number being opened.

Role Overview:

This position is responsible for working closely with the New Business Conflicts Supervisor, firm's Ethics Committee, firm attorneys, and other levels of firm administration as well as other members of the New Business Conflicts Department in connection with the review of new business to identify and facilitate resolution of conflicts of interest.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  1. Primarily responsible for the review of new business intake requests and collating the results of preliminary conflicts checks, including resolution and clearance of conflict of interest issues.
  2. Assist with the research of new client matters, including the resolution and clearance of conflict of interest of such matters, as needed.
  3. Assist in coding of engagement letters pursuant to established guidelines and documenting of such actions in the conflicts database.
  4. Assist Attorneys in the identification and resolution of conflicts of interest, which includes coordinating receipt and documentation of and preparation of engagement letters and client waivers and/or consents.
  5. Assist in securing the approvals of new matters from the Ethics Committee and all other levels of Firm Administration as governed by firm policy guidelines.
  6. Assist Supervisor in training Conflicts Analyst Assistants and Conflicts Analysts.
  7. Exercise proficiency in understanding and utilising the Conflicts Database.
  8. Monitor and track various special interest projects.
  9. Assist the New Business Conflicts Department with a wide range of research requests and other projects as may be assigned.

Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services.
