Overview We have a fantastic opportunity for a night veterinary surgeon to work at an independent, purpose‑built, gold‑standard cat‑only clinic situated in a vibrant South‑East London neighbourhood. With a loyal client base, a mix of first‑opinion work to exciting second‑opinion and referral cases, and a speciality in feline ophthalmology, the practice now offers round‑the‑clock emergency and inpatient care. The clinic is equipped with the latest technology – including Digital Radiography, Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Bair Hugger™ technology and purpose‑designed operating theatres – to provide the highest quality treatment. The team is led by a dynamic clinical director, an Ophthalmology Specialist and an experienced veterinary surgeon with a strong background in internal medicine, especially cardiology and diagnostic imaging. Skilled veterinary nurses, caring assistants, a practice manager and support staff complete the well‑coordinated practice. Responsibilities Serve as the sole charge on the night shift, handling in‑patient medicine and non‑routine surgical procedures such as C‑sections and exploratory gastrointestinal surgery. Collaborate closely with the day team to ensure seamless, gold‑standard healthcare for every patient. Triage emergency calls from both registered and non‑registered clients efficiently, supported by a dedicated RVN. Receive invaluable support from a VCA until 9:30 pm (Mon–Fri), enabling a well‑structured and manageable workload. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years post‑qualification experience in ECC. Strong passion for feline medicine. Excellent surgical skills with confidence in non‑routine emergency procedures. Capability to manage inpatient medicine with a focus on medicine and in‑patient management. Rota 7 nights on and 14 nights off. Each weekday shift is 13 hours; each weekend/bank holiday shift is 14 hours. Benefits Salary up to £65,000 DOE. £1,250 CPD allowance. 5 days paid CPD leave. Discretionary performance bonus.
