This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert environmental guidance, promote sustainability, and influence positive change across multiple projects. You’ll play a key role in supporting operational teams, liaising with clients and regulators, and ensuring compliance with environmental standards, all while driving a culture of continuous improvement.What you'll be doingDeliver and support environmental and ecological initiatives, including net gain projects.Provide expert advice to operational and design teams on environmental management, mitigation, and compliance.Produce, review, and maintain environmental management plans, risk assessments, and sustainability plans.Report on environmental and sustainability performance to clients and leadership teams.Engage with clients, regulators, subcontractors, and local stakeholders to ensure environmental requirements are met.Oversee and support a team of Environmental and Sustainability Advisors/Coordinators across multiple projects.Investigate environmental incidents and recommend preventive measures.Lead internal training, toolbox talks, and coaching to promote development and awareness.Support bid teams by reviewing client tender documents and providing detailed responses on environmental management.Contribute to continuous improvement through sharing lessons learned and supporting audit and assurance activities.Who we're looking forExperienced in environmental management and sustainability within construction or infrastructure projects.Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, standards, and best practices.Excellent communicator with the ability to liaise confidently with clients, regulators, and teams.Experienced in supervising teams and prioritising tasks effectively.Committed to driving sustainability initiatives and embedding environmental awareness across projects.Why work for usDay in, day out, our teams deliver some of the UK’s most ambitious, exciting and meaningful projects; developing, building and maintaining the vital infrastructure that supports national economies and strengthens communities.BenefitsSmart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working where roles allow.25 days paid annual leave (pro rata)Family friendly policies – 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partners leave.Pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave, recognition schemes and much more.About UsBalfour Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution teams work with regional, national and international electricity network owners and operators to provide technical engineering solutions across the full spectrum of the electricity grid, including overhead lines, cabling, substations and distribution networks.From scoping and feasibility to design, construction and on‑going maintenance, our in‑house experts, flexible resources and industry‑leading innovations support customers in developing some of the UK’s most ambitious power transmission and distribution projects.Diversity and inclusionWe believe that diversity and inclusion are essential components of any successful, happy workplace.
