About the Role Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Operations Engineer will provide operational and process expertise and lead to ensure safe, reliable, compliant and optimised delivery of the agreed plant plan. They will take ownership of key Process Safety systems and act as Operations representative within the wider FPS North Team to support the delivery of long‑term asset improvements. The role is also pivotal in ensuring that the maintenance and upgrades of offshore and landline sites allow the Forties Pipeline System to operate safely and reliably through 2040+. Day‑to‑day duties include developing and maintaining all technical and operational information and documentation required for FPS North (LO/LC valve database, P&ID’s, operating envelopes, etc.), updating process documentation for safe operation/release/re‑commissioning, managing FPS North Vulnerabilities Process, supporting plant readiness for programme workscopes, and acting as asset representative for programme activities. The engineer will advise on process safety information, conduct SHE audits, lead level‑1 assurance reviews, carry out root‑cause analysis, and identify opportunities to improve plant availability or variable‑cost performance. They will manage interfaces between system entrants and the oil terminal, input activity planning processes, provide leadership and guidance to shift operations teams, and lead written specifications of operation modifications. The engineer may also act as W2W/Project Operations Lead, Participate in the Management of Change process, and serve as Operations Superintendent delegate when required. Qualifications Graduate qualified Process/Chemical Engineering background with 5+ years experience Proven ability to coach and develop technician personnel Previous experience in the oil & gas or energy industry is desirable Experience in front‑line operational or maintenance roles in the UK North Sea preferred Proven technical/operational troubleshooting skills Commitment to excellence in Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) performance and zero tolerance for unsafe conditions/behaviours Structured, well‑organised and enthusiastic approach to work Able to work under time pressure and deliver reasoned outcomes both autonomously and collectively Motivated individual capable of integrating into a team and prepared to work flexibly in a changing environment Strong performance bias and able to work on own initiative without supervision Computer literate Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal, across differing levels in the organisation Strong and considered decision‑making skills Benefits We offer an excellent package with 34 days of holiday per year (inclusive of bank holidays), a competitive salary and a discretionary business bonus scheme (up to 20%).
