Job Summary Phlebotomist, Band 2 Main duties of the job This role is vital in the delivery of operational performance of blood testing on all our patients that are in the hospital to have a blood testing to support ongoing treatments and diagnosis's. Supporting patient flow and support to other clinical colleagues and working with the site leadership team to perform to a very high standard. We require someone who is a team player, with excellent communication skills and who visibly enjoys the challenges that the Phlebotomy role provides. GCSE in Maths and English language or minimum of Key Skills Level 1 in literacy and numeracy. Essential Experience Experience of working in a clinical team. Experience of working with the public and demonstrating strong customer care skills. Awareness of the physical, psychological, cultural and social needs of patients. Desirable Minimum of 6 months experience in adult phlebotomy in a U.K. hospital. Knowledge Able to work under own initiative. Ability to prioritise own workload on a daily basis. Ability to deal with problems in a professional and sensitive manner, and reflect and appraise own performance. Clear written communication. Basic IT skills. Understanding of the need for respect, trust, courtesy and effective communication with both patients and staff. Skills Can demonstrate an enthusiastic, approachable, empathic and friendly manner. Able to organise own workload. Able to work without supervision. Able to use own initiative. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. Able to work calmly within a pressured environment.
