Overview Job Summary: We are looking to recruit Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team serving 10,000 patients. Supported by our nursing team, the role will be 35.5 hrs per week over 4 days. Main duties of the job: We are looking for an experienced and dedicated HCA to join our nursing team. The successful candidate will have experience in HCA duties, be enthusiastic, confident and familiar with policies & procedures. Details Date posted: 02 December 2025 Pay scheme: Other Salary: Depending on experience Contract: Permanent Working pattern: Full-time Reference number: A4862-25-0004 Job locations 2 Longrigg, Leam Lane Estate, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, NE10 8PH Job Description Main Duties New Patient registration checks Chronic disease management checks Venepuncture taking and preparing of pathology samples Urinalysis testing and recording of specimens Blood pressure monitoring, pulse rate and rhythm 24 hr blood pressure monitoring Measurement of height and weight Provision of diet and lifestyle advice Pill checks Foot care assessments Undertake Flu Immunisations Provide Smoking Cessation advice and monitoring Assist with the provision of health checks for both newly registered patients and cardio vascular health checks (NHS Health checks) Clinical Care Work alongside the Clinicians in the provision of patient care Assist Clinicians in emergency management of patients Act as a chaperone Provide relevant health promotion literature for patients Care and Management Programme Ensure stock are provided in GP and treatment rooms Comply with sterilisation procedures Follow infection control standards Contribute new ideas to improve patient care Instruct patients in appropriate techniques or tasks Recording patient information Person Specification Qualifications Essential Healthcare qualification GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths Desirable Phlebotomy certification Experience Essential Experience of working with the general public Working in a healthcare setting, working within a nursing team and dealing with vulnerable patients Desirable Experience of working in a primary care environment Experience of working in a GP practice with EMIS Web Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
