Our Geography curriculum fosters inquiry, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the world around us, helping to develop well‑rounded, curious, and resilient learners. We are keen to appoint the best teacher for this role, and therefore you will need to demonstrate strong subject knowledge. The Head of Department is passionate about their subject and is looking for someone who can deliver engaging, enjoyable, and challenging Geography lessons that inspire rapid progress. Teachers who are passionate about their subject motivate students — so you will need to show a genuine enthusiasm for your subject, and a commitment to engaging all students. A keen interest in extra‑curricular activities is welcomed, with a willingness to run clubs. The Candidate We are seeking a candidate who will be ambitious for our students who is keen to take the next step on the career ladder. A passion for influencing curriculum design and innovative practice, and for identifying and developing student potential is key. A keen desire to make a difference and a belief that a good school can and does make a significant difference to students' life chances and achievement, including the wider skills needed in life. You will: have a passion for Geography which is evident in your teaching demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver inspirational learning experiences for students have an understanding of how to promote effective and inclusive teaching and learning be able to evidence success in raising student achievement across a broad range of abilities through successful assessment, monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the range of strategies that could be used to address underachievement possess good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents demonstrate a strong desire to undertake Continuing Professional Development to inform teaching The Department The Geography Department is a thriving and popular choice amongst students, with a strong uptake across a number of GCSE classes. It is led by two specialist Geography teachers who bring significant experience in delivering GCSE courses. You will be joining a passionate and supportive team, committed to helping new colleagues settle in and succeed. Geography is highly valued by students thanks to its engaging curriculum and the wide range of field trips offered, which bring classroom learning to life and deepen understanding of key topics. The department is also supported by a Lead Practitioner within the Trust, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained. Our School Bohunt Farnborough continues to go from strength to strength. In 2025, our GCSE results improved once again, continuing a trend of record‑breaking outcomes year after year. In 2024, we were proud to be recognised as one of the top 5 % most improved schools in the country—a testament to the dedication of our staff, the resilience of our students, and the unwavering support of our families. This momentum was further acknowledged during an Ofsted pilot visit in July, where inspectors praised the rapid progress of the school under their new framework.
