Business Development Manager – Water Solutions Ireland Ltd Contract: Full‑time Permanent Job Role: This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and commercially minded professional to play a pivotal role in expanding our client base and ensuring continued growth. Reporting: Directly to the Directors. The Business Development Manager will identify & manage tender opportunities, develop client relationships, expand our product and service portfolio, and ensure all marketing and PR activity aligns with the company’s brand and values. Collaboration with internal teams (engineering, operations, marketing) to deliver compelling proposals and outstanding customer experiences is a key part of the role. About Us Water Solutions Ireland is a leading engineering firm providing sustainable water and wastewater treatment solutions across the UK and Ireland. We deliver innovative design, build, and operational services for public utilities, industrial clients, and commercial sectors. Key Responsibilities Identify, assess, and pursue new business opportunities within the water, wastewater, and civil engineering sectors. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and key industry stakeholders. Lead bid and tendering processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and competitive submissions. Collate feedback on submitted tenders and use insights to improve future submissions. Develop and execute strategies to attract new clients and open new markets across Ireland and the UK. Prepare tailored proposals, tenders, and presentations that balance technical accuracy with commercial value. Manage the full business development lifecycle from initial lead generation through to contract negotiation and close. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure opportunities are accurately scoped and successfully delivered. Represent Water Solutions Ireland at industry events, exhibitions, and networking opportunities. Contribute to strategic business growth and client retention initiatives. Marketing & Communications Liaise with the Marketing Assistant to ensure all marketing, PR, and digital activity aligns with brand guidelines. Provide input on marketing materials, case studies, and promotional content that support business development goals. Support the development of material to expand the company’s product and service portfolio. Monitor and report on marketing and tender performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities. Research & Market Insight Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities. Maintain awareness of upcoming tenders, frameworks, and funding opportunities. Identify and evaluate potential partnerships, collaborations, and sponsorships. Support the company’s growth strategy by contributing insights to commercial planning and decision‑making. Candidate Criteria Essential Degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, or a related discipline. Proven experience in managing tenders, business development or sales within the construction, engineering, or utilities sectors. Strong understanding of industry procurement and tendering processes. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Commercially astute with a strategic mindset and the ability to identify and capitalise on growth opportunities. Highly motivated, target‑driven, and confident working independently or as part of a team. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Willingness to travel within Ireland and the UK as required. Desirable Experience in the water, wastewater, or environmental engineering sectors. Knowledge of public procurement portals and framework bidding. Familiarity with CRM systems and tender management tools. Experience collaborating with marketing teams to deliver brand‑aligned business development initiatives.
