Have you worked as an Engineering Technician or Fabrication Welder, or have equivalent workplace experience? Are you interested in supporting our apprentices by passing on your skills and knowledge, contributing to the development of a new generation of future engineers? Would you like to help our apprentices achieve their qualifications by coaching and supporting them, completing formative assessments of their skills in the workplace, and assisting them to complete their apprenticeship portfolios? If this is you, and you have a passion for learning and want to help others succeed, then apply to become an Apprenticeship Learning Coach to support our Engineering Technician Apprentices at York College. About the person You will need to have Engineering professional competence or workplace knowledge and experience as an Engineering Technician or Metal Fabricator, and/or have experience of supporting apprentices in the Engineering workplace. We are looking for an individual with excellent organisational skills to track and monitor our apprentices’ progress, alongside great communication skills to communicate with all our employers and apprentices. Candidates may offer skills and experiences suitable for a proportion of role or the total 37 hours per week. About the College We are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more than one million people. Each year, we have approximately 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult students, and 400 higher‑level students studying with us. Our wide range of education options span entry-level programmes through to degrees, higher technical qualifications, and accredited professional courses to courses for professional development. Our apprenticeships can be studied from level 2 to level 5 across a range of different career pathways. We are the largest provider of A-Level and vocational programmes for school leavers in the region; we offer nearly 35 A-Level subjects and over 80 vocational courses, including a wide range of T-Level pathways. We are proud to be part of a consortium of colleges and employers developing the Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology (IoT), designed to increase higher-level technical skills for employers.
