Residential Fire Risk Assessor

Osterna, part of RMG and Places for People Group, is looking for an experienced Residential Fire Risk Assessor to join a proactive and highly successful team of Health & Safety Professionals covering a patch across Watford and surrounding areas. With a positive work/life balance, you will be home‑based when not undertaking site visits and typically complete up to 10 site visits a week (Monday to Friday). Although we are seeking an assessor based in the Watford area, national travel may be required. What’s our USP? Risk assessment reports will, in most cases, be confined to the common internal and external areas for residential developments. What does the role involve? As a specialist in the residential housing sector, you will carry out inspections on property types including traditional residential blocks, sheltered housing, HMO and high‑rise (over 18 metres) housing and write up reports with your findings. Completed risk assessments are used by property managers and directors of the management companies to initiate repairs or other procedures required to keep residential common areas safe. What knowledge, skills and experience are we looking for? A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential. Experience undertaking fire risk assessment work within the residential property sector on high‑rise buildings. Essential NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Level 3 NEBOSH National General Certificate. Experience of undertaking suitable and sufficient Health and Safety and Type 1 and Type 3 Fire Risk Assessments (HSFRA) and Compartmentation Surveys. Accuracy and attention to detail within reports, along with comprehensive knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and its application to property management. Knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and supporting local government guidance. LaCORS experience would be great but is not essential; training will be provided.
