EPUT is looking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor who will provide consistent, high quality Medical input support to Older Adult Community team based at Cherry Trees, St Peters Hospital, Maldon, CM9 6EG but required to work at other Trust locations as requested in response to the demands of the service. Main duties of the job The specialty doctor will be expected to work independently and provide clinical leadership to the team, through good multi-professional working. The specialty doctor will have shared responsibility for the clinical care of those patients referred to the team and will be expected to work closely with the consultant and team manager to ensure the provision of an effective service. You should be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will also need to provide evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in psychiatry at time of application and likelihood of achieving CT2 competences in psychiatry by the start date of the post. Community care to the patients under the care of Brentwood mental health services. Participation in MDT meetings Clinical supervision of trainees Medical support for patients under the care of Brentwood team. Conduct MDT meetings and take responsibility as a senior clinician in the absence of the Consultant. Person Specification Qualifications MBBS or equivalent medical qualification At least 3 years experience working in Psychiatry Experience Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983. Eligibility to work in the UK. Transport Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative. Clinical Skills Experience of working in General Adult. Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job and specialty Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need. Clinical governance: Capacity to be alert to dangers or problems. Demonstrates awareness of good decision making. Aware of own limitations. Track record of engaging in clinical governance: reporting errors, learning from errors. Audit: evidence of active participation in audit. Knowledge and experience of conducting cognitive assessments is desirable. Teaching: evidence of interest and experience in teaching where required in the job.
