CDW UK Huntingdon, England, United Kingdom JOB TITLE: Technical Consultant DEPARTMENT: Professional Services, Consulting JOB SUMMARY: The role of Technical Consultant within CDW Professional Services is to consult, design, plan and implement complex technical projects. The Consultant works closely with Principal Technical Consultants and other technical teams, supporting Sales and Solutions to provide the technical expertise required to close sales opportunities. Responsibilities include technical presentations, solution demonstrations, solution design/configuration, proposals, bid response documentation, statement of work creation, time and material estimates, HLD and LLD documentation—all while ensuring the highest level of quality assurance. Benisible candidates will be eligible for security clearance and will adhere to CDW policies and GDPR best practices. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Act as a mentor and technical escalation point, providing expert-level knowledge in issue resolution, standards, design, best practice, delivering quality and reference target architectures. Collaborate closely with Account Managers, Project Managers, Solution Architects, customers and other teams. Design and deliver implementation services across a wide range of clients and technologies. Create technical documentation as required, including: Low Level Designs Diagrams Statement of Works (SoW) Prepare and present customer‑facing documentation. Maintain and upgrade required certifications. Work with clients on projects to identify commercially viable, technical solutions to business problems and streamline business processes. Ensure projects are completed within agreed time, quality, scope and cost parameters, applying appropriate governance to manage risks, changes and issues. Lead technical roles in one or more projects, ensuring solutions are documented in SoW or Project Initiation Documents and designed to industry or CDW best practices. Assist in the design of Proof‑of‑Concept scenarios, Type Approval activities in CDW labs and client‑specific needs. Help create test type documentation and test scenarios. Meet or exceed personal objectives and KPI targets. Proactively evaluate existing systems, standards, documentation and procedures, making improvement recommendations. Represent and enhance CDW’s brand and that of Operations and Professional Services, internally and externally. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Essential skills FortiGate Traditional Nexus Deep understanding of TCP/IP protocols and fundamentals of networking equivalent to CCNP level. Strong hardware, switching and routing experience in Datacentre and Enterprise Networks. Strong understanding of Palo Alto or FortiGate Firewalls. Excellent documentation skills to create Test Plan documents, Visio diagrams and other documentation including statements of work. Juniper Network performance monitoring and packet capture/analysis. Network automation knowledge including API usage, programming, scripting and orchestration skills. Essential Certifications Cisco Wireless (CCNP) Desirable Certifications Fortinet NSE Checkpoint CCSE CCNP Enterprise ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES Quality focused with excellent attention to detail. Methodical & analytically minded. Results‑oriented with a track record of success for achieving and exceeding sales goals.
