We are seeking a dedicated and professional Phlebotomist to join our multi-disciplinary team on a 12-month temporary contract to cover maternity leave. We encourage open communication, continuous learning, and a healthy worklife balance.Job responsibilitiesWork as part of the nurse team delivering care to patients in the surgery working within the boundaries of legislation, policies, procedures and standards.To maintain high standards of professional competence in the performance of all duties.Carry out the primary purpose of routine phlebotomy and if required blood pressure height and weight checks or as directed by registered colleagues.Ensure the correct blood tests are taken according to the patient record and complete the laboratory request forms accuratelyPerform venepuncture, in accordance with practice procedures and protocolsEnsure all samples are labelled correctly and stored in the appropriate transport bags.Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventionsComputer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures.Action recalls on home page following procedures.Check the welfare of the patient throughout the appointment, escalating as required to registered colleagues.Making new, and follow-up appointmentsOffering signposting, advice and guidance to patients as relevant.Responsible for ordering and stock control of all phlebotomy consumables and pathology swabs.Training will be provided to have the knowledge, skills and related competency to undertake your role and responsibilities.Participate in nurse team meetings, clinical supervision sessions and appraisals.Perform and record Diabetic foot checksPerson SpecificationQualificationsGCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent-Care Certificate-NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social CareExperienceCurrent or previous experience of working in a Health or social Care Setting-Experience of working in a GP practice-Previous phlebotomy experience-Ability to organise own workload-Pleasant and presentable-Sympathetic to the needs and sensitivities of the patient-Flexible to meet the needs of the nursing team and the practiceSkills & Knowledge-Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills-Able to work independently using own initiative-Willingness to undertake training as appropriate to the post-Basic skills in Microsoft officeKnowledge of clinical IT system Emis web/TPP system oneDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
