The Digital Workplace Data Intelligence team, within the Technology organisation at American Express, aims to deliver the best digital colleague experience through Data and AI. We work with stakeholders across American Express to enable more personalised and predictive experiences for our colleagues as well as valuable insights for right time decisioning. The Analyst - Data Analytics will report into the Director of Data Intelligence in Digital Workplace. We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst who is passionate about working with large and complex data sets to drive insight and ensure data integrity. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the quality, completeness, and protection validation of enterprise data. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in data querying and manipulation, with proficiency in writing and optimizing queries. You should also be comfortable working within a cloud‑based environment, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless data flow and transformation. As part of your responsibilities, you will define and document Organized Data Layer (ODL) requirements, business logic, and transformation rules for the engineering team. You will play a key role in data quality management, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of datasets used across the organization. The Analyst – Data Analytics will partner closely with both the engineering teams and the product teams to deliver, and you will play a key part in empowering colleagues across the organization with accessible, reliable data to drive smarter decision‑making. You will also have the opportunity to shape the evolution of the Digital Workplace Data & AI landscape. contributing to the development of new data products and the integration of AI‑driven capabilities that enhance our analytics ecosystem and deliver greater business impact. Key Responsibilities: Manage and ensure the quality, completeness, and protection validation of enterprise data. Design, write, and optimize data queries to extract and manipulate large, complex data sets. Collaborate with engineering and product teams to deliver reliable, self‑service data and business intelligence solutions. Define and document Organized Data Layer (ODL) requirements, business logic, and transformation rules. Maintain data quality standards and governance practices to ensure accuracy and consistency across systems. Work within a cloud‑based environment to support scalable data integration and transformation processes. Partner with stakeholders to enable data‑driven decision‑making through accessible, trusted insights. Contribute to the evolution of the Digital Workplace data and AI landscape, supporting the development of new data products and AI‑driven capabilities. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field Proven experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar analytics role, working with large and complex datasets. Strong proficiency in SQL and data query languages; experience with query optimization and performance tuning. Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and related data tools or services. Familiarity with data modelling, ETL processes, and structured/unstructured data handling. Demonstrated ability to ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across multiple systems. Proficiency with data visualization and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to translate data into actionable insights. Strong understanding of business processes and the ability to translate analytical findings into meaningful recommendations. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience partnering across engineering, product, and business teams. Exposure to or interest in AI and machine learning concepts, particularly in the context of analytics and data‑driven product development.
