Technical Author – Slaughterhouses and Animal By‑Products – UKBAT – 32429 Join the Environment Agency as a Technical Author in the UK BAT team. The role focuses on developing Best Available Techniques (BAT) conclusions for large slaughterhouses and animal by‑products installations. Responsibilities Draft BAT Conclusions. Liaise with Technical Working Groups. Present final documents for publication as UK‑wide environmental standards. Work with, and write technical documents. Manage projects and drive completion. Support incident management objectives and participate in development plans. Travel and overnight stays may be required. Qualifications & Skills At least 5 years working experience in environmental regulation within the slaughterhouse and animal by‑products industry. Specialist knowledge and understanding of the Slaughterhouse and Animal By‑Products sector. Good understanding of process engineering, environmental issues, UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, including the IED and Environmental Permitting Regulations. Capability of critically analysing technical arguments and data. Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to build and maintain relationships. Planning, prioritising, and organising tasks and resources to deliver timely results. Flexibility to adapt to challenges and build consensus. Contract & Location Up to 2 years from appointment.
