Technical Lead Hardware

My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to drive the design and integration of advanced hardware systems, including custom ASICs and high-performance network interface cards. This role involves overseeing outsourced hardware design activities, ensuring the seamless integration of complex systems into cutting-edge photonics-based equipment platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, supplier management capabilities, and a proven ability to manage risks and programs in a collaborative and dynamic environment. Responsibilities Lead the design and development of highly complex custom integrated circuits (ICs) for advanced photonics modules targeting data centre applications Provide technical leadership and oversight to outsourced design partners, ensuring alignment with system-level requirements and delivery timelines Define and finalise hardware specifications; manage and participate in design reviews; approve technical deliverables Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for hardware validation, verification, and system integration Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues at both board and system levels Manage supplier relationships and support hardware bring-up and production readiness Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, RF, mechanical, and software engineers, to ensure seamless system integration Maintain detailed documentation of application requirements, test procedures, and design changes Drive risk management, change control, and issue resolution throughout the hardware development lifecycle Qualifications A minimum of 10 years of experience in hardware integration, preferably within RF, photonics, or optical systems Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, signal processing, and control loop design In-depth knowledge of high-speed ADC and DAC specifications for hardware control Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams Demonstrated ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related field This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to contribute to the development of innovative hardware solutions in a fast-paced and technologically advanced environment.
