Responsibilities Play a key role supporting the development of new technologies and opportunities to help grow the business in line with ambitious growth plans. Undertake a variety of tasks from measurement of materials and devices through to simulations, using 3D full wave solvers, of LO products and active devices such as antennas. Work with other ATS specialists, the wider BAE Systems business and external customers to provide expertise and support to key programmes. Form part of a team that looks to maintain and expand the capability of the Electromagnetic test & measurement facilities for the Microwave Materials business in line with strategic requirements. Build direct customer and stakeholder relationships to assist in ensuring effective project delivery and identifying new business opportunities in line with the ATS business strategy. Have specific responsibility for development projects requiring design and manufacturing capability, including passive materials, metamaterials and conformal antennas. Qualifications Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific/engineering discipline with proven experience. Sound understanding of Microwave Electronics, electromagnetic theory and principles. Experience with electromagnetic simulation, including antenna design. Familiarity with recognised industry standards and techniques for Microwave measurement, including Radar Cross Section and free space measurement of S parameters. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Desirable Membership of a recognised technical body, ideally with Chartered status. Recognised technical specialist in the field of Microwave Electronics. Relevant experience that underpins all aspects of the Microwave Materials business. Experienced user of CST Studio Suite for full wave simulations. Team and Role The Microwave Materials team is a key part of BAE Systems' Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS) organisation. We specialise in cutting‑edge research and development of radar absorbent, radar transparent, and metamaterial technologies. Our work directly supports the design and manufacture of next‑generation defence systems through our on‑site advanced manufacturing facility.
