Shift Engineer (Mechanical Biased) TipTopJob – South Essex (RM18). Commutable from Grays, Romford, Tilbury, Pufleet, Basildon, Southend, Wickford. Schedule: Monday – Friday – Double days (6am‑2pm / 2pm‑10pm) with a 1 in 6 week call‑out rota (24/7). Salary: £50,000 + overtime. Role and Responsibilities Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive and predictive maintenance, and breakdown analysis. Operate and maintain industrial processing and manufacturing equipment. Work with machinery and systems such as conveyors, silos, blowers, presses, baggers, production equipment, mixers, elevators, PLCs, fillers, robotics, and 415 V AC systems. Execute electrical and mechanical fault‑finding, analysis, and repairs. Participate in the 1 in 6 week call‑out rota (24/7). Collaborate closely with the maintenance supervisor to prioritise PPMs and order spare parts. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Multi‑skilled engineer with a mechanical bias. Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 or higher). Strong problem‑solving skills, approachable, and capable of prioritising tasks. Effective response to breakdowns, ensuring safety and efficiency. Proficient in both electrical and mechanical fault‑finding. Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and using breathing equipment. Experience in food, FMCG, or fast‑paced industrial manufacturing is desirable. Flexible attitude, willing to participate in on‑call rota and work extra hours when required. Experience with heavy industrial manufacturing equipment and systems. Hands‑on experience with compressors, bearings, shafts, gearboxes, chains, belts, blowers, and rollers. Benefits from mechanical fabrication, fitting, machining, and welding skills.
