Computer Studies Lecturer – GEDU Global EducationDepartment: Academic – Bath Spa University partnershipLocation: Manchester, United KingdomSalary: £51,000 p.a.Role Summary: We are seeking a flexible and dynamic lecturer to teach across undergraduate levels as part of our BSc (Hons) Computing programme in partnership with Bath Spa University. The role requires flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.ResponsibilitiesPlan, deliver and assess all student work ensuring learning outcomes are met.Develop, update and improve course materials as appropriate.Use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials.Actively engage in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties.Stay current with latest developments in your field and student support practices.Work towards clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and progression.RequirementsMaster’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.Extensive knowledge of two or more of the following areas: Programming and software development, Web development, Database systems, Cloud computing, Networking, Cybersecurity, IoT and emerging technologies, Business IT systems, IT management, AI and Machine Learning, Operating Systems, UI/UX.Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback.Accurate reporting and maintenance of thorough and organised student records.Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines.Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills.Ability to work with diverse groups of people.DesirablePostgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).Experience in design/development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent.Benefits25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays.1-day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days.Workplace pension scheme.Tuition reimbursement for career development courses.Flexible benefits: Cycle to Work, Workplace Nursery, Tech scheme and more.Perks@Work discounts platform, wellbeing centre and more.Reward and recognition programme.£500 award for employee referral scheme.Discretionary annual performance bonus.“The diversity and sense of community at GBS make it truly special.
