Junior / Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer Location : Kent Salary : £28,000 - £40,000 + DOE An established consultancy firm is seeking a motivated Junior / Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing building services team in Kent. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and a genuine interest in delivering innovative, efficient, and sustainable building services solutions across a variety of project sectors. Key responsibilities Assist in the design and development of electrical building services systems Produce high-quality drawings, schematics, and technical documentation using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux / Relux, Amtech). Carry out load calculations, cable sizing, lighting calculations, and other engineering assessments under the guidance of senior engineers. Support the preparation of specifications, reports, and feasibility studies. Liaise with internal design teams, external consultants, suppliers, and contractors to support project delivery. Attend site visits and assist with surveys, commissioning reviews, and design validation. Ensure designs comply with relevant UK regulations, standards, and industry best practice (e.g., BS 7671, CIBSE guidelines, Building Regulations). Participate in internal design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. What we’re looking for A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. 1–4 years of relevant experience in building services electrical design. Familiarity with UK standards, wiring regulations, and building services design principles. Competent using design and calculation software such as Amtech, Dialux / Relux, and AutoCAD. Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Desirable Exposure to sustainability and low-carbon design Working towards or interest in gaining professional accreditation (e.g., IEng / CEng with the IET or CIBSE).
