Rehabilitation Officer (ROVI) – Visual Impairment Calderdale is seeking to recruit a Rehabilitation Officer for people with a visual impairment to join a small dedicated Sensory Team alongside another Rehabilitation Officer, a Coordinator for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and a Communicator Guide. The team is part of the Calderdale Adult Social Care Front Door Offer, within Community Prevention and Early Intervention, and sits within the Adults Services and Wellbeing Early Intervention and Prevention directorate. Responsibilities Hold a caseload of people and undertake proportionate, strength‑based assessments. Design and implement programmes of rehabilitation tailored to each individual's needs. Promote independence while ensuring individuals remain at the heart of their work. Empower vulnerable adults to make choices, decisions and maintain autonomy and control. Convert IT system usage to reliable reporting, including writing detailed reports. Actively contribute to the ongoing development of the Directorate and share information with health colleagues and voluntary agencies. Qualifications and Requirements Rehabilitation Specialist qualification and registration with the Rehabilitation for the Disabled and Training of Professionals National (RWPN). A valid driving licence and access to a car for business use. Strong commitment to the Human Rights and the Principles of The Care Act 2014. Excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate good practice. Positive, enthusiastic and innovative approach to work. Experience working with visually impaired individuals is essential. Depending on the role, a DBS may be required for posts exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
