We have a great opportunity for a dedicated Associate to join our Advisory Division.SOCOTEC Advisory is a chartered quantity surveying and expert witness consultancy, renowned for its team of industry-recognised experts and delivery of robust and quality services. Our team is made up of approximately 60 Quantity Surveyors with a broad spectrum of experience. This allows the delivery of services across most sectors, including residential, infrastructure and marine, in both public and private sectors and enables expertise to be shared across the company.The Associate supports the Director and Technical Expert Witness (TEW) team in managing commissions, contributing to solutions and reporting findings both internally and externally. The Associate plays a vital role in optimising utilisation and value creation for the TEW team while developing their own expert witness capabilities under supervision. The Associate also contributes to team administration, promotion of the SOCOTEC brand and services, and champions the company's goals and values.The Associate helps ensure projects are delivered within budget, on time, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.Team Support and DevelopmentSupport senior team members in day-to-day operations and project deliveryAssist in managing team workload under supervisionContribute to achieving project deliverables within budgetSupport in meeting client and internal deadlinesFoster collaborative working within the high-performing team environmentExpert Witness Services SupportAssist in dispute resolution proceedings under supervisionSupport senior colleagues in expert witness appointmentsDevelop skills and experience towards building expert witness capabilitiesLearn from testifying experts to build foundation knowledgeAnalysis and DocumentationConduct critical review and analysis of construction project records under guidanceAssist in producing analyses and communicating findings internally and externally in clear and objective formSupport in the selection and implementation of assessment methodologiesReview records from dispute resolution proceedings, including witness statements and expert reports, under supervisionReport Writing and CommunicationAssist in drafting expert reports, notes and external communicationsParticipate in internal and external client meetings as directedSupport senior colleagues in client communicationsProject Management and CollaborationSupport liaison with internal and external stakeholdersContribute to developing solutions and strategies for project objectivesAssist in the development of proposals under guidanceQuality Assurance and ComplianceSupport quality assurance processes through testing and peer-reviewsEnsure all activities comply with relevant regulations, standards and best practicesMaintain high standards in all work outputsProfessional Development and Business DevelopmentUndertake training, CPD, and other activities to develop technical and managerial skillsAttend marketing events, client events, seminars and lectures to build technical knowledge and relationships while promoting SOCOTEC Advisory's brandAdministrative RequirementsRegularly and accurately record and describe time spent in day-to-day activities using the required platformTo be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate :Educational and Professional QualificationsWorking towards chartership in relevant institution or recently charteredDegree level education in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience in the sectorTechnical Knowledge and ExperienceGood knowledge of construction cost management (for Quantum) and / or construction project management (for Delay)Experience working with different suites of construction contracts (i.e. JCT, NEC, FIDIC), with exposure to claims assessment and project recordsGood experience with dispute resolution proceedings within the Construction Industry and understanding of the expert witness roleKnowledge of relevant specialist software such as Primavera P6, CostX, REVIT, AutoCAD, etcExpert Witness and Dispute ResolutionExperience supporting expert witness appointments with aspiration to secure own appointmentsLeadership and Team ManagementExperience in supporting and mentoring junior team membersAbility to contribute to team motivation and deadline managementCommunication and Client RelationsBuilding a network of client contacts and developing reputation within the fieldAbility to act as point of contact to instructing clients under supervisionStrong communicator in English, both verbally and in writingComfortable supporting client liaison and presentationsSome negotiation experience or trainingTechnical and Analytical SkillsCompetent in drafting sections of expert reports and supporting documentationProficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and comfortable working with large data setsProactive, analytical thinker with attention to detailAble to produce accurate, well-structured analyses with guidanceCapable of contributing to solution development and collaborating effectively with peersPersonal Attributes and Work StyleComfortable working independently and in teams to meet strict deadlines across various project typesAbility to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectivelyActively contribute to SOCOTEC's initiativesWilling to travel internationally, if requiredDemonstrated willingness to develop specialist knowledge in respective field (Quantum or Delay)About AdvisoryOur experienced team of industry professionals come from diverse backgrounds, experiences and expertise.
