The Role Our largest UK site in Harrogate is recruiting for a Technical Lead to join the Bioanalysis group. The role focuses on LCMS and involves leading lab processes, studies, and projects; assisting in training, development, scheduling, and oversight of laboratory staff; and supporting the planning and execution of process improvement projects. The Technical Lead actively performs laboratory work within the scope of validation tests, automated sample extractions and routine/non‑routine analyses in compliance with SOPS and regulatory guidelines. Job Responsibilities Independently set up and operate general equipment, LC‑MS systems, and automated instrumentation, including problem identification and resolution. Perform routine and non‑routine maintenance as necessary. Actively carry out laboratory work within the scope of validation tests, automated sample extractions, and routine and/or non‑routine analyses in a variety of matrices, documenting and maintaining study records in compliance with SOPS and regulatory guidelines. Serve as lead chemist on projects to plan, monitor, and guide project and/or POD work, overseeing a small group of technical staff with minimal supervision. Assist with manual and automated routine sample extraction, training, and analysis laboratory work scheduling for indirect reports, including batch starts, calculations, and study set‑up. Review work of others for overall accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment. Provide input and participate in project meetings, informing the Study Director, Principal Investigator and/or management of any problems and deviations that may affect data integrity and recommend corrective action. Suggest and perform modifications to test methods or procedures where precedence exists. Recommend an action plan for solving project or technical problems as they occur. Assist in evaluating new technologies or techniques and act as a technical resource for the department. Interact in external client communications as required.
