The role: Safety and Compliance Manager As a key member of our Engineering Safety & Compliance team, you will take ownership of either the Safety Assurance or Compliance Monitoring function, driving a culture of continuous improvement, proactive risk management, and regulatory excellence. What you’ll do Leading a team of skilled professionals to ensure delivery of safety or compliance oversight across our global maintenance operations. Supporting the Accountable Manager and senior leadership with accurate insights into organisational risks, emerging trends, and system performance. Continuous Improvement of our Compliance and Safety Management Systems. Ensuring that audit and assurance programmes meet regulatory and business expectations, with effective root cause analysis and follow‑up. Championing a just culture and promoting engagement across engineering teams. Interfacing with internal and external stakeholders including the CAA, EASA, other industry partners. What you’ll bring to British Airways We're looking for a leader who combines strong technical knowledge with people‑centric leadership. You should have: Proven experience in an aviation maintenance organisation, ideally within a Safety Management System (SMS) or Compliance Monitoring function. In‑depth understanding of UK CAA and EASA Part‑145 regulations. Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills. Experience in managing teams, projects, or complex change programmes.
