That's where you'll find Zinc : tackling the trickiest challenges where these forces collide and driving impact on the issues that matter most.About the roleZinc Network is seeking freelance producers to join its talent pool. After approval to join the pool, you will be one of our go-to producers when we have relevant briefs on our exciting social-change projects around the world. As a Producer at Zinc, you will be responsible for finding and selecting stories and producing high-quality videos on different topics. This will include scripting the videos, finding contributors and archives, overseeing remote crews, working with animators and the edit team, and guiding them through the process.You will oversee scheduling, ensuring that all production milestones are hit, and all assets are delivered on time and to a high editorial and creative standard. You will take responsibility for driving the project forward, working with our accounts, digital and project management teams to ensure the smooth delivery of the project. You do not need any shooting or directing skills.As a video producer, you will have significant experience in the edit, and writing clear, attention-grabbing scripts. You will be a master of conveying complex information simply and concisely. You will be able to take complex research and turn it into compelling video ideas, identifying the most effective hooks for a story and suggesting creative and engaging treatments to appeal to our target audiences in different countries. You will know how to make a film stand out visually, and how to find great archive. You will have experience working with motion graphics and animation.Key responsibilitiesProvide editorial and journalistic oversight of the project, ensuring work meets our editorial guidelines and ethical standardsManage the creative workflow and oversee the work of the project’s creative teamFind and select journalistic storiesCommission and edit long-form written content from our partnersCome up with creative ideas for videos and social contentOversee the work of designers, animators, editors, and social content producersWrite powerful treatments that bring ideas to life and suggest innovative creative approaches to maximise the impactWrite engaging scripts with personality that convey complex information in a simple and clear mannerTake ownership of schedules for your projectsEnsure assets are delivered to a high quality and on timeBe able to produce and edit several short videos simultaneouslyEnsure all edit scripts and other paperwork are kept up to dateEnsure scripts are accurate, rigorous, fact-checked, and strategically appropriate for the needs of our clients and partnersParticipate in internal and client reviews, communicating creative vision and proposals effectivelyTake feedback well and be prepared to revise your work to meet the needs of our clients, partners and internal stakeholdersRequirementsFluent in written and spoken EnglishExcellent understanding of social media platformsSeveral years’ experience in a journalistic role, ideally with editorial oversight of othersSeveral years’ experience in video production, with numerous scripting, producing and editing producer creditsProficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects).High level of creativity and ability to generate attention-grabbing creative ideasExperience in archive research and motion graphicsExcellent communication skillsExcellent time management and organisational skillsMeticulous attention to detailPositive and flexible ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to solve problemsAbility to get on well with the teamAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentConditions of EmploymentCandidates who receive a job offer will be required to :Disclose any previous disciplinary action against them resulting from substantiated safeguarding (including any breaches involving trafficking-related activities) or workplace investigation.Undergo background checks including employment verification, sexual offender registry (as available), identity confirmation, and anti-terrorism vetting.Application ProcessPlease include a cover letter stating how you meet each of the requirements.
