Lecturer in Computing – Manchester Department: Academic/Bath Spa University (BSU) Location: Manchester Salary: £51,000 About the role We are currently seeking Lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of our BSc (Hons) Computing programme in partnership with Bath Spa University. Due to our delivery model, flexibility is required to teach on weekdays, evenings and weekends. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess student work, ensuring all learning outcomes are met. Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate. Use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials. Actively engage in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of developments in the field and student support practices. Work towards objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction, and progression. Requirements Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable). Have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of two or more areas such as programming, web development, database systems, cloud computing, networking, cybersecurity, IoT, business IT systems, IT management, AI, machine learning, operating systems, or UI/UX. Have experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback. Have experience of accurate reporting and ability to maintain thorough and organised student records. Be able to work under pressure, plan and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines. Exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, and team‑working skills. Be able to work with diverse groups of people. Desirable Hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification, or show commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during probation and complete within three years; or hold a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or equivalent). Have experience designing / developing academic or professional education programmes or equivalent.
