Job Summary
The Yorkshire Centre for Eating Disorders is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 3 Health Support Worker to join the Ward 6 inpatient service, which is part of the CONNECT service.

The ward is a 14-bedded ward offering treatment to patients who are residents in the Leeds, Wakefield, Kirklees, Calderdale, and Bradford areas. The service offers inpatient assessment and treatment for patients with a diagnosed eating disorder, working closely with the CONNECT community team to provide seamless care.

Our aims are to manage significant physical risk effectively and offer a variety of evidence-based psychological therapies and practical interventions, in the form of individual sessions and group work, all led by members of the MDT. Our care is person-centered, and care planning is individualized to meet patient needs.

You will be responsible for being part of a care team and carrying out interventions with supervision from the clinical team to support patients' ongoing recovery.

If you have experience working with this client group, on a mental health ward, or in a CAMHS unit, and are looking for a new challenge, then this may be the opportunity you have been seeking.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE EXPECT A LARGE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS TO THIS VACANCY - WE ENCOURAGE AN EARLY APPLICATION IN CASE OF EARLY CLOSURE.

Main duties of the job

  • Co-facilitation of patient groups
  • Risk management
  • Liaison with friends & family members
  • Daily ward admin

The service is committed to individuals' personal CPD, and you will be supported through the Trust's supervision and appraisal systems. Specific training will be provided where necessary.

A period of induction, training, and support will be offered. We are keen to hear from candidates who have a genuine interest and empathy in working with individuals with eating disorders and associated complex needs.

If you feel you are seeking a new challenge, feel passionate about supporting patients and their families on a journey of recovery, and are keen to learn new skills and share new experiences, then do contact the service for more information, and a visit would be advisable.

We recruit people based on their values and qualifications (where required) and believe that their lived experience is an advantage. This means that together we are as diverse as the communities we care for. Simply put, when we employ caring people who act with integrity and have the right skills, we can give those with mental health challenges, learning disabilities, and neurodiversity high-quality care and support to live fulfilling lives, making our staff feel purposeful, happy, and valued.
