Key Responsibilities and Focus Commercial Strategy & Governance - You can manage large-scale cloud contracts and frameworks within regulated environments, leading commercial strategy and negotiations to ensure value for money and compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations. Stakeholder Engagement & Financial Alignment - You can build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across technology, commercial, and finance functions, driving alignment on cloud budgets, forecasts, and financial targets for digital delivery. Technical Leadership & FinOps Integration - You can lead the integration of FinOps principles into engineering teams and digital delivery environments, defining and implementing financial governance mechanisms that support technical decisions and cloud operations. Financial Analysis & Insight - You can use analytical tools and techniques to transform complex financial data into clear insights, trends, and actionable recommendations, presenting performance data to senior leaders to influence strategic decisions. Risk Management & Compliance - You can manage financial risk within technical and operational environments, ensuring compliance with government and departmental financial policies. FinOps Tools & Cloud Platforms - You have hands‑on experience using FinOps platforms and tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Cloudability, native tooling) to manage and optimise spend across cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or OCI. You and your role: We're looking for a Lead IT Asset Manager to shape how DWP manages and optimises its digital assets across one of Europe's largest cloud environments. This is a key leadership role within Hybrid Cloud Services, where you'll define strategy, set standards, and lead a team focused on FinOps and IT Asset Management. Your work will ensure cloud investments deliver real value, driving cost transparency and empowering teams to make smarter, cost‑aware decisions. You'll oversee the full IT Asset Management capability, covering legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance for software and hardware across the DWP estate. Your remit spans AWS, Azure and OCI environments, and includes implementing policies, managing renewals, auditing assets, and reporting on compliance. You'll also lead the development of real‑time dashboards and tooling to monitor cloud usage, costs and budget adherence, providing actionable insights to engineering teams and senior stakeholders. Beyond governance, you'll partner with Finance, Commercial and Delivery leaders to influence cloud contract decisions, optimise spend and forecast costs. You'll mentor engineers and analysts, embed financial accountability into technical operations, and drive continuous improvement across processes and systems. Disability Confident.
