Qualified Social Worker - Assessment & Safeguarding Team
Location: Haringey, London
Team: Adults Assessment & Safeguarding
Contract: Full-time, ongoing
Salary: Competitive (DOE)
Role Purpose
Haringey Council is seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join the Assessment & Safeguarding Team. This role involves undertaking person-centred assessments and welfare visits for residents and service users in line with the Care Act 2014, ensuring preventative interventions and promoting independence. Social Workers will work collaboratively with voluntary and community groups, health partners, and carers to achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake Assessments and Reviews focusing on strengths, wellbeing, and preventative options.
Support carers and families through assessment, review, and guidance.
Complete Mental Capacity Assessments and make Best Interest decisions as required.
Ensure care packages are value for money, including reviewing and reducing unspent personal budgets where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with Continuing Health Care (CHC) framework and joint health colleagues.
Identify and manage risks, including safeguarding concerns, following statutory guidance.
Maintain high-quality records, ensuring compliance with statutory and organisational standards.
Actively participate in team meetings, supervision, and continuous professional development.
Engage with a wide range of professionals and organisations to maximise outcomes for service users.
Essential Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Social Work with current Social Work England registration.
Proven experience in Adult Social Work, particularly in assessment and safeguarding.
Strong knowledge of Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, safeguarding processes, and health and social care frameworks.
Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, and IT skills.
Ability to manage a caseload effectively and work under pressure.
DBS clearance required.
