About the role Balfour Beatty are looking for a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join our M25 Connect Plus Services Team. This role can be based at Dartford, Leatherhead or South Mimms and will include regular travel across the M25 network. A company car will be provided. The Senior HSW Advisor will assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of processes aimed at managing health, safety & well‑being risks within the Project. The role will support the organisation's ambition to be a safe and responsible company regarding our people, supply chain partners and the communities we serve. The Senior HSW Advisor will be required to be present during occasional night construction works. Connect Plus Services (CPS) brings together the collective strength of our parent companies – Balfour Beatty, Atkins and Egis Road Operation UK. With around 600 people, based at eight locations across the M25 network, we work on behalf of Connect Plus and National Highways to manage the operation of the M25 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from routine maintenance to managing the whole‑life requirement of thousands of assets across the network. What you’ll be doing Provide day to day management, guidance, support and mentoring to the otherHSW advisers. Being a visible champion for HSW throughout the project engaging with Operatives and Managers. Oversee the implementation of Organisational Standards relating to HSW at alocal level providing feedback to the HSW Managers on any areas of improvement or potential conflict with business requirements. Monitor the delivery of the communications strategy to keep HSW on theoperational delivery agenda and report back to the HSW Managers on thelevels of effective communication. Support the delivery of appropriate and adequate HSW training based onProject needs. Support/undertake targeted inspections of HSW management system andsupply chain audits, tracking & supporting actions to close out. Managing own diary and stakeholder communications to plan, schedule andconduct inspections and HSW conversations with site & depot based teams. Prepare and communicate timely reports and presentations detailing performance data on inspection findings, tracking & supporting actions to closeout. Positively represent the Health, Safety & Well‑being function and its strategyduring conference calls and meetings. Review work activities against safety system of work taking appropriate action and providing documented advice where necessary. Support incident investigations, ensuring incidents are dealt with effectively withactions tracked to close out. Who we’re looking for Essential: Membership of a relevant professional body (IOSH). Professional qualification in health and safety (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent). A current CSCS Card. Clean, full driving licence. Able to maintain a regular night‑time and weekend presence. Utilise suite of Microsoft Office applications and digital platforms at an intermediate level to review data, identify themes and prepare representative graphs. Desirable: Prior site‑based construction experience. Experience of working on a Joint Venture.
