We are looking for a Band 5 or Band 6 nurse to join our dedicated Substance Misuse Team in a development role within the speciality of Substance Misuse within a prison setting. Our healthcare team have a real impact on promoting health and well‑being to those in prison and we pride ourselves on using skills and strategies that instil hope for patients future resettlement back into the community. We directly deliver Mental Health, Physical Health, Pharmacy and Clinical Substance Misuse in an integrated healthcare delivery model to provide effective and responsive care to improve wellbeing and support better outcomes in the future. All applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting in order to work in a Prison Setting. This will be completed as part of the pre‑employment checks through Oxleas and the prison vetting team. In this role you will be delivering high quality clinical care within the Integrated Healthcare Service for the prison, demonstrating robust expert clinical skills and providing evidence‑based nursing practice to those in prison. A clear competency framework and time scale will be agreed with your line manager to ensure your personal and professional development can be met in order to uplift your role to a Band 6 once your development plan and goals have been met. Key Responsibilities Deliver high quality primary care services and a range of specialist interventions for offenders with identified substance misuse / dependency and related physical health issues in a Local Remand prison. Work closely with the Substance Misuse Clinical Lead and Practice Development Nurse to guide and support you on your development journey. Provide evidence‑based nursing practice and demonstrate robust expert clinical skills within the Integrated Healthcare Service. Application Requirements Proof of right to work documentation Proof of ID, including one photographic ID Proof of address documentation Non‑UK passport holders: correct documentation for right to work in the UK and a Home Office Share code UK passport holders who have lived abroad for more than six months during the last three years must provide a certificate of good conduct or an overseas police check in English Qualifications & Eligibility Band 5 or Band 6 registered nurse with clinical experience. A specialist interest in supporting those with identified substance misuse / dependency and related physical health issues is desirable. National Security Vetting is required. Professional Development Oxleas offers a structured progression pathway to Band 6. Clear Personal Development Plans (PDP) and Personal Development Reviews (PDR) will be used to support your development. You will be encouraged to take increasing autonomy over time and will have the opportunity to prepare a portfolio documenting evidence of your skills and experiences. Progression Criteria The developmental roles for newly qualified and experienced nurses are intended to support staff wellbeing, encourage retention of quality staff and support individuals within the custodial setting with greater consistency of care. You must have relevant post‑qualification experience before applying to progress to Band 6. A competency framework will be agreed with your clinical supervisor or line manager. #J-18808-Ljbffr
