They are at the centre of all our homes and provide delicious, and nutritious home cooked meals for everyone.Care Home ChefLocation: Thornton Hall & Lodge Care Home - 16 - 18 Tanhouse Road, Crosby, Thornton, Liverpool, Merseyside, L23 1UBResponsibilitiesWork with the Home Manager and care staff to create nutritious and balanced meals that cater for the individual needs of those living in the home.Supervise a dedicated team to prepare daily meals, manage food orders, stock levels and maintenance of vital equipment.Follow food safety guidelines to ensure the kitchen is fit for purpose and able to complete daily meals on time.Plan, prepare and cook a variety of meals which are appealing, nutritious and centred around individual preferences, requests or any special dietary requirements; follow Orchard Care Homes’ Good Food Guide and, where appropriate, make amendments after authorisation from the Support Centre.Be active and encouraging, provide advice and guidance for the team to maintain a friendly, supportive working environment.Understand and comply with statutory and legal requirements relevant to HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH, Environmental Health, Care Standards Act, and Infection Prevention and Control policies to maintain a safe environment throughout the home.Implement, monitor and maintain cleaning schedules that meet the requirements of the Food Safety Manual; ensure all areas of the kitchen are immaculately clean, including washing up of pots, pans and dishes when required.Ensure sufficient food stocks are ordered and received from approved suppliers and that stock rotation is maintained to ensure freshness and high quality.Desirable qualificationsKnowledge of texture modified diets and food allergensKnowledge of modified diets and creating specific meal plans to suit an individual’s needsBenefitsAccess to Blue Light Discount CardExcellent training and progression opportunities, from day one, with career pathways to enable you to grow and developRecognition schemes, such as ‘Making a Difference’ and an annual awards ceremonyFree Uniform and car parkingAccess to our 24/7 Employee Support Hub offering confidential support on personal and professional issuesAbout Orchard Care HomesThornton Hall & Lodge is a bright and spacious purpose-built home that specialises in care for older people, with the Hall providing 24hr residential care for 48 residents, and the Lodge giving additional round the clock dementia care for 48 residents.Orchard Care Homes has been providing care for older people for over 15 years.
