Study Skills Lecturer – Leeds at GEDU Global Education Department: Academic/Bath Spa University (BSU), University of Suffolk (UoS), Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), Oxford Brooks University (OBU) and/or Pearson partnerships Location: Leeds (On‑Site) Salary: £51,000 Type of Contract: Full‑Time, Permanent (40 hours per week) Our Vision Changing lives through education. The role Full‑time Study Skills Lecturer working closely with subject lecturers to develop and teach study skills across HE programmes from Foundation to Masters level, in partnership with BSU, UoS and OBU. Responsibilities include improving English language, numeracy, organisational and presentation skills, digital literacy, basic IT, reading, writing and higher‑order research skills. Flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends is required. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. What you will be doing Design and document bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans and individual schemes of work as required to develop study skills in the curricula Deliver and evaluate teaching, identifying areas for improvement to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and student experience in line with GBS’s Learning and Teaching strategy Provide feedback on individual and class progress in academic writing and other relevant study skills Offer tutorial consultations with students, giving tailored comments, explaining failures to meet assessment criteria and suggesting improvement methods Record details from these appointments for statistical, evaluation and quality purposes, and refer students to other services as appropriate Engage with the VLE and research resources to facilitate students’ learning through online resources and activities Contribute to GBS quality assurance systems and processes About you Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable) Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area Successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes Proven experience providing individual and group study skills support in response to identified learning needs Willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development (reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills, project and dissertation support, peer‑assisted learning) High level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills Desirable Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development DELTA qualification A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enroll on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent) What we offer 25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays 1-day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days Workplace pension scheme Tuition reimbursement for career development courses Flexible benefits: Cycle to Work, Workplace Nursery, Tech scheme and much more Perks@Work discounts platform, wellbeing centre and much more Reward and recognition programme £500 award employee referral scheme Discretionary annual performance bonus “GBS has greatly supported my professional development by offering me a chance to teach diverse, non‑traditional students and by sponsoring my FHEA application, which has been invaluable in consolidating my teaching practices.” – John Traichaisit, Consultant Lecturer GBS is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and providing a workplace free from discrimination or harassment.
