Due to recent expansion and increasing workload, an exciting opportunity has become available for a Trainee Geotechnical Technician to join the team in the Washington, Tyne & Wear, UK. No experience is required, and full training will be given. Suitable candidates will have an interest in a career working in a soil laboratory environment. Key Roles and Responsibilities Perform a variety of physical tests on soil, rock and aggregate samples to the highest level of safety and quality standards. Develop an understanding of the test methods and why samples are tested. Assist in the calibration and maintenance of all technical equipment. Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment. Ensure the quality of work produced is to high standards and tested in a timely manner. Handle sample receipt, storage and disposal. Required Experience and Qualifications 5+ GCSEs including English, Maths and Science. Previous experience in a geotechnical or materials testing lab. Good numeracy and literacy: able to write clearly and accurately. A good eye for detail, diligent in following procedures. Good IT skills, especially the use of MS Excel. There will be lots of manual handling involved in the role and will require moving heavy items on a frequent basis. Person Specification Organised with a methodical approach. Good team player. Strong communication skills. Good level of literacy and numeracy. Salary and Benefits Salary £23,810 per annum. Contributory pension scheme.
