Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant | Ellesmere Port

Role Overview:

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant in Ellesmere Port, you'll play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs in either a primary or secondary school setting. Your focus will be on providing emotional, social, and academic support, helping students manage their behaviour and engage more positively with their learning.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs to help them achieve their learning goals.

Assist teachers in delivering lessons and classroom activities that engage and support students with complex needs.

Promote positive behaviour and use strategies to de-escalate challenging situations in a calm and compassionate way.

Build strong relationships with students, supporting them in their personal, social, and academic development.

Work closely with other school staff to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for an individual who is passionate, energetic, and motivated to make a real difference in the lives of young people. Ideally, you'll have:

Experience working with children or young people, whether in a teaching assistant, sports coaching, youth work, or other related role.

A background in sports coaching, psychology, or a similar field, which is perfect for understanding the behavioural and emotional needs of young people.

Experience working in primary or secondary education, though transferable skills from other roles (such as care, social work, or youth support) will also be considered.

A calm and empathetic approach with a natural ability to connect with and support young people facing emotional challenges.

A genuine desire to work with students who have complex SEMH needs and help them overcome barriers to learning.
