Manufacturing Engineer IONETIC – who are we? IONETIC is a battery technology start-up based in Brackley, just a few miles from Silverstone—the heart of British motorsport. We specialise in battery pack solutions for low-volume electrified applications, including buses, sports cars, and other vehicles. Our mission is to make electrification both possible and compelling for every vehicle OEM, by providing tailored, cost-effective battery packs with unmatched speed and flexibility. By integrating proprietary software, mechanical design, and manufacturing technologies, into a single technology stack we call Arc, we deliver custom battery systems that meet a wide range of energy, power, and lifecycle requirements. Our chemistry-agnostic, scalable designs are built to accelerate the journey to net zero for our customers. Working at IONETIC IONETIC offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-moving, innovative start-up that is shaping the future of electric mobility. With a strong order pipeline and growing demand for our technology, we’re expanding our team to broaden our capabilities and scale our operations. As an early-stage employee, you will play a key role in developing the foundational technologies and capabilities that will power the next generation of electric vehicles. Every employee at IONETIC takes on meaningful responsibility and is encouraged to contribute ideas, take initiative, and grow both professionally and personally in a supportive, collaborative environment. Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team. You will play a pivotal role in defining and developing the manufacturing processes and infrastructure that support our cutting-edge battery products—from early prototypes through to low- and medium-volume production. This role is central to establishing IONETIC’s manufacturing capability in the UK, with responsibility for designing, implementing, and optimising assembly and testing systems for battery modules and packs. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including product design and customer-facing engineering—to ensure manufacturing solutions are cost-effective, scalable, and aligned with best-in-class quality and performance standards. The work will involve deploying new technologies, supporting digitalisation of manufacturing processes, and driving DFM/DFA principles to deliver efficient, high-quality production outcomes. Responsibilities Plan, specify, develop, and implement manufacturing facilities and processes for battery module and pack assembly and testing, ensuring targets for quality, cost, and performance are met. Collaborate with internal and external design teams to ensure products are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet all production requirements, using digital tools to support early design validation. Lead robust process quality planning activities, including digital simulations of assembly, build processes, and adherence to automotive standards. Take an active role in early build phases, both in-house and at customer locations, to ensure smooth industrialisation and product launch. Evaluate and select appropriate manufacturing technologies, including automation and robotics, and carry out industrial engineering tasks such as layout planning, cycle time analysis, and ergonomic assessments. Own and deliver all manufacturing engineering workstreams within development programmes, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget. Provide manufacturing input into new business proposals and feasibility studies, including cost estimates and production capability assessments. Contribute to organisational development by capturing and sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned. Identify and support opportunities for generating and protecting intellectual property (IP) related to manufacturing processes and systems. Skills and Experience Degree in engineering, science, or mathematics (or equivalent experience via HNC/HND with relevant industry background). Experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role within a low- to medium-volume assembly environment. Hands-on experience in the assembly and industrialisation of battery modules and packs (or other energy storage systems). Strong knowledge of precision assembly techniques, process control methods, and testing requirements. Proven experience in selecting, validating, and implementing process equipment—including automation and robotic systems. Understanding of advanced joining methods such as adhesives and laser welding. Experience managing budgets of £500k or more. Familiarity with facility procurement processes and health & safety (H&S) principles. Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and industrial control systems. Proficient in core engineering skills such as GD&T, industrial engineering, and simulation tools. Skilled in process engineering methods, including ergonomic assessments, risk assessments, COSHH, PFMEAs, and structured problem solving. Previous involvement in designing, installing, and commissioning production lines or manufacturing cells. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, CAD tools, and simulation software. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and present confidently at all levels. Valid UK driving licence or suitable alternative for business travel. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed. #J-18808-Ljbffr
