Financial Services (FS) Tax Director – Belfast Join the growing Tax Team at Grant Thornton Advisors (NI), part of Grant Thornton Ireland, as a Director leading a new UK FS Tax practice in Belfast. With over 70 specialists, our team delivers deep industry, sector and technical expertise across all tax solutions. We have recently merged with Grant Thornton US, fueling growth in the UK FS Tax market. Job Description As a Director, you will spearhead the development of the FS Tax practice in Belfast, build and lead a high‑performing team, and drive client relationships across the financial services industry. The Opportunity You will shape the future of FS Tax, create value for clients, and collaborate with FS Tax teams in RoI, UK and US. Key Responsibilities Strategic Development: Develop and implement the FS Tax strategy for the Belfast office. Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor and lead a high‑performing UK FS Tax team. Client Leadership: Build and nurture relationships with new and existing clients in the financial services sector. Technical Excellence: Provide expert advice on UK FS Tax issues, including corporate tax, tax structuring, transfer pricing, VAT, and operational taxes. Market Development: Identify and pursue business development opportunities within the FS sector. Cross‑Service Collaboration: Work closely with Audit, Advisory and Consulting to deliver integrated solutions. Governance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. What We’re Looking For A driven UK tax professional with a passion for financial services and a proven record in team leadership and client relationships. Essential Skills And Experience ACA/ACCA/CTA(UK) qualified (or equivalent) with significant post‑qualification experience in FS Tax. Leadership experience, ideally within a Big 4, top‑tier professional services firm or in‑house at an FS organisation. Deep technical expertise in tax issues relevant to financial services, including current regulatory and market developments. Strong business development and client management skills.
