Engineering Shift Manager

Our iconic snowballs, teacakes, and meringues have woven themselves into the fabric of Scottish culture, becoming go-to treats for both everyday indulgence and celebratory moments.As an Engineering Shift Manager, you will be responsible for managing engineering resources to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the company’s planned preventative maintenance programme. This includes responding to equipment faults and failures with the appropriate level of urgency, while ensuring the correct use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (Mainsaver) to record all activities. Reporting to the Engineering Site Lead, you will support on-line fault finding and practical problem solving, as well as contribute to ongoing Continuous Improvement initiatives.This is what you’ll actually doIn this role, you will oversee the week-ahead and day-to-day planned preventative maintenance schedules to maximise reliability across the site. You will evaluate in‑day breakdowns and work requests, assigning priority and appropriate resources to ensure Production Downtime remains at or below 2%. Working collaboratively across the Engineering function, you will communicate priorities clearly and ensure effective escalation and reporting of issues through the company MARA system.A key part of the role involves ensuring the correct application of safety standards and promoting safe working behaviours during all maintenance activities. You will be accountable for the quality of all Maintenance and Repair work delivered and for ensuring that all shift activity is accurately captured in the company’s CMMS (Mainsaver). Additionally, you will identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support CI projects to enhance operational performance.You will also manage a team of Direct Reports, driving efficient and effective performance while ensuring that skills and competencies remain current and aligned with role requirements. This includes supporting development and succession planning. Finally, you will be responsible for ensuring that all engineering areas are maintained to the highest standards, in line with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and for ensuring that your team consistently adheres to these standards.There is also a requirement to work 60 hours of maintenance time (10 Saturdays per year 6.00am-12.00pm).EssentialApprentice Trained and Qualified Multi‑skilled engineer with recognised Mechanical / Electrical Engineering qualification.
