Brief Description: As Senior Project Engineer (B&C) – Building Services reporting to the Programme Engineering Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of the Building and Civil works programme for the SID. You will also undertake the duties of Designated Project Engineer on multi‑discipline Railway Projects, managing design and/or construction assurance activities on allocated projects. You will ensure engineering standards are adhered to, comply with PACE, relevant legislation, Railway Group and Network Rail standards. Key Accountabilities Implement Network Rail systems and procedures to deliver a cost‑effective, high‑quality and safe approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities on relevant projects. Monitor the competence of all Project Engineers within the discipline and provide guidance, direction and briefing. Apply engineering controls and procedures to ensure all design and construction contracts reference appropriate Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards. Apply risk assessment techniques, HAZOP analysis and manage environmental aspects in line with the Network Rail Environmental Policy. Ensure compliance with Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards and project control procedures. Advise project and programme management on construction activities, testing and commissioning, site supervision, and ensure legislation requirements including CDM are met. Monitor contractor design, construction and specialist personnel competency. Review design and construction activities and arrange contractor audits to ensure safety, quality, testing and commissioning systems are adequate. Act as nominated design and construction engineer and carry out duties of a Designated Project Engineer (DPE). Conduct accident investigations when required. Essential Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications Significant experience in engineering disciplines, preferably across multi‑discipline construction and design projects. Technical qualification at least HNC level or equivalent. Membership of a relevant professional institution. Experience of contracting. Knowledge of structuring safety cases for projects. Knowledge of safety management and quality assurance. Understanding of independent assessment arrangements for works. Accident investigation experience. Desirable Six Sigma Yellow Belt. Chartered status or equivalent in the discipline. Appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works. How to Apply Salary: Band 3C (£55 596‑£65 966) plus Inner London Allowance £3 270.
