We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.The Clinical Chemistry Department in Clyde Sector provides services from three sites across the sector – the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH) and the Vale of Leven Hospital (VOL). The total workload exceeds 7 million analyses of more than 120 different tests. As a dedicated Specialist Biomedical Scientist you will work within a highly specialist technical service in the laboratory.Key DutiesRotate through the laboratory sections of Core Biochemistry, Metabolic and Point of Care.May attend Diabetic Clinics and interact with patients. Work unsupervised and as part of a team, communicating effectively with colleagues to provide a comprehensive Biochemistry service essential for effective diagnosis, treatment and monitoring.Maintain organisational and professional standards to ensure efficient, high‑quality, timely service.Work Pattern & PostsDay, night, weekend and back‑shift pattern from RAH and IRH.Expected to work across all three Clyde Biochemistry sites as required. Two fixed‑term posts available:1 x 1.0 WTE (full‑time) – 12 months, 37‑hour post, fixed term until 21 Dec 2026. 1 x 0.7 WTE – 9 months, 25‑hour post, fixed term until 30 Sep 2026.QualificationsHonours Degree in Biomedical Science (or equivalent).Current registration with the HCPC (Annex 21 for pre‑registration considered).
