Role Summary Rubicon Consulting is recruiting a Port Operative for a 7‑month contract based in Hartlepool. The role is within the Site Operations Department and involves operating plant and equipment, supporting tasks across all areas of the site, and working as part of a permanent team at Able Seaton Port in Teesside, England. The position requires flexible hours to accommodate 24/7 operations across multiple shifts. Responsibilities Operate heavy machinery such as telehandlers, forklifts, and MEWPs when required. Climb to heights and perform work such as slinging and signalling. Carry out port operations and logistics (stevedoring). Follow instructions from supervisors. Perform any other tasks deemed necessary by the site team. Ensure company policies and procedures are applied and complied with on assigned projects. Report any EHS incidents. Requirements Ability to use basic hand tools and HYTORC equipment (desirable). Mechanical comprehension (desirable). Previous experience as a Port Operative / Stevedore / Multi‑skilled Operative (highly desirable). IOSH / CCNSG Safety Passport. FLT NPORS CAT B / C (highly desirable). NPORS N138 Telescopic Handler (highly desirable). IPAF MEWP Operator's Licence (highly desirable). A40 Slinger Signaller. GWO, Working at Height, First Aid, Fire awareness, medical (essential). OG UK Medical. Extremely health & safety conscientious. Aptitude to learn new skills and a flexible outlook. Basic IT skills – Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel. Desired Characteristics Strong communication skills. Ability to work with all levels of management, engineering, and trades (internally and externally). Capacity to work to deadlines and under pressure. Ability to fit into and enhance the existing operations team. Flexible approach to all aspects of site activities.
