Overview The aim of the job is to aid assistance and support to the employer's child who has a severe learning disability, epilepsy, autism, HNRNPU and associated complex needs. A Personal Assistant is employed to help me live my life with as much independence as possible; getting the right assistance when I need it allows me to do this. Help and encouragement with Independent Living Skills e.g. brushing my teeth, will promote my independence and give me the chance to reach my full potential. A Personal Assistant will enable me to do this by getting to know me, listening to what I and my family want and following their instructions. It is therefore vital that an employee has patience along with good communication and listening skills. A Personal Assistant should be able to handle the tasks of working with a complex young person. The job involves assistance with a variety of tasks. Like most people, my day varies so it is difficult to list every task that is expected of a Personal Assistant.
