Join to apply for the Surgical block Lead role at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will assume the role of Clinical educator for Obstetrics and Gynaecology to cover maternity leave. This will be a 12‑month secondment. The role involves planning, facilitating, timing, coordinating and evaluating teaching for undergraduate medical students from Newcastle and Sunderland Universities. Sessions will include clinical skills, simulation, small and large group teaching, and may involve patients in classrooms, wards or clinical environments. Particular emphasis is placed on inter‑professional learning opportunities. Key responsibilities include: Develop and maintain excellent communication with medical students, providing pastoral care and mentorship. Ensure pastoral care and advice given are aligned with university policies and signpost to appropriate agencies. Act as a point of contact for students who wish to raise a concern. Build and maintain excellent working relationships with undergraduate faculty (clinical and non‑clinical), Trust directorates, the simulation team and universities. Actively engage in internal and external educational meetings. Provide excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and their carers. Deliver teaching sessions to small and large groups of students, ensuring high‑level written, verbal and non‑verbal communication. Timetabling clinical placements to maximise student learning and experience, and avoid pressure points in clinical areas during the academic year. Support and facilitate bedside teaching during student placements. Serve as a visible presence and support to medical students on placement.
