Design & Technology Technician Start Date: January 2026Location: North TynesideContract: Full-time (term time only)Salary: Dependent on experience We are seeking a proactive, organised, and highly skilled Design & Technology Technician to join Teaching Personnel and support a thriving DT department at a school in North Tyneside (NE29) starting in January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in assisting teachers, maintaining well‑equipped workshop spaces, preparing materials, and helping to create a safe, dynamic, and engaging learning environment for students. Key Responsibilities Prepare and maintain materials, tools, and equipment for a range of DT lessons (Product Design, Engineering, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Electronics, etc.) Provide technical support to staff and students during practical sessions Ensure all workshops meet health and safety standards, including regular equipment checks Assist with the ordering, organisation, and storage of materials and resources Contribute to the development of creative projects and displays within the department Support whole-school initiatives and events where appropriate Essential Skills & Experience Practical experience in one or more DT disciplines (e.g., woodworking, metalwork, CAD/CAM, electronics) Strong understanding of health and safety procedures Good organisational and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes Desirable Experience working in a school or educational environment Familiarity with equipment such as laser cutters, 3D printers, and CNC machines Relevant technical or vocational qualifications What We Offer A friendly, committed department with a passion for creativity and innovation Opportunities for training and professional development A supportive school community with excellent facilities How to Apply Please send your CV and a short covering letter outlining your suitability for the role to Jade.robinson@teachingpersonnel.com All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
