We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Practitioner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background baby development and in early childhood education and a genuine love for working with children. This role involves creating a nurturing environment that fosters the development and well-being of young children with particular focus on babies. As a Nursery Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting children's learning through play, ensuring their safety, and promoting positive relationships with both children and parents. Responsibilities Provide high-quality childcare in a safe and stimulating environment. Plan and implement engaging activities that support children's development across all areas of learning. Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records to inform future planning. Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their independence and self-esteem. Communicate effectively with parents about their child's development and daily activities. Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive team environment that prioritises the well‑being of all children. Manage behaviour in accordance with nursery policies, promoting positive interactions among children. Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the nursery setting, ensuring all resources are safe and accessible. Skills Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices. Experience working with babies in a nursery or childcare setting is essential. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues. Ability to drive initiatives that promote children's learning and development through play‑based activities. Leadership skills to guide and support less experienced staff members or volunteers within the nursery environment. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. A nurturing attitude towards children, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding of their needs. You will need to use the specific training/knowledge of working with babies and children under two years old to support all children’s individual needs. You must have the ability to keep records of key children’s development and learning journeys and be able to share this with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life. Wage will be dependent on experience and qualification. We are open from 7.30am to 6.30pm and work on shift rotations. All applicants must undergo and successfully complete rigorous reference checks and enhanced DBS checks.
