This post is funded at 0.53 WTE (19.8 hrs/week) and is an ideal post for an experienced Paediatric Audiologist / Clinical Scientist who would like to further develop leadership, management and advanced clinical skills. You will be working alongside our other team leaders, reporting to the Head of Paediatric Audiology. The post carries line‑management responsibility and time has been allocated for leadership, management, training and service development aspects of the role. Main duties of the job The role is primarily concerned with the delivery of advanced clinical practice in paediatric audiology including behavioural testing in children considered non‑routine, objective testing, and hearing aid fitting and verification. In addition, the post holder will supervise, coach and mentor junior members of staff to ensure that a consistently high quality clinical service is provided. You will be an audiologist with a BSc or PTP in audiology with additional training in paediatric audiology, or a Clinical Scientist (Audiology). You must be registered with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist or AHCS as an Audiologist. Evidence of further specialist training and experience in paediatric audiology in an NHS context is expected, including provision of hearing aids. You should have highly developed skills in undertaking developmentally appropriate audiological assessments in children of all ages, including those considered non‑routine, and desirable experience in performing ABRs following referral from NHSP. Working for our organisation OUH is one of the UK’s largest teaching hospital trusts. We provide a comprehensive paediatric audiology service including assessing babies referred from the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, the behavioural and objective assessment of children of all ages and the habilitation of children with hearing loss. The paediatric audiology service sits alongside a busy adult audiology service and our Auditory Implant Programme. You will be joining a large team comprising Audiologists, Assistant Audiologists, Clinical Scientists (Audiology), Hearing Therapists and administrative colleagues. We are actively involved in training and have colleagues on degree apprenticeship, PTP and STP programmes, with all staff having regular CPD opportunities. The service has undergone significant development over recent years and is actively working towards IQIPS accreditation. You will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and may be required to undertake clinics at a variety of locations around the county including Banbury and Didcot.
